About

Eve - Childhood.png

Eve lives in Riverdale Park with her husband, Jay, and daughters, Amelia and Blair.  Like so many Prince Georgians, Eve fell in love with the County’s rich history, pride, and deep-seated drive toward justice and progress.  It is Eve’s greatest joy that Amelia and Blair are raised to see themselves reflected by those in seats of power and in all other walks of life.

Eve grew up in Jamaica, Queens raised by two of the strongest women she has ever known: her mother and grandmother—Haitian immigrants who taught her what it meant to be of service.  They took it upon themselves to care for other newly-arrived immigrants in their humble home, always ready to share a savory home-cooked meal, a warm bed, clean clothes, and sage advice.  It was a home of struggle and sacrifice, but also of kindness and generosity. Like many first-generation kids, young Eve enjoyed her time acting as interpreter, social worker, and tour guide to the newly-arrived, planting within her the seeds of advocacy.

With her family’s support, Eve attended Binghamton University, graduating with honors with a dual degree in Philosophy, Politics, and Law and History.  She went on to Cornell Law School, becoming an editor of the Cornell Law Review.  After graduating law school at twenty-four, Eve began practicing family law litigation in New York City and eventually Maryland, protecting spouses, parents, and children in emotionally fraught litigation.

In 2016, Eve left the practice of law to join the Hillary Clinton Presidential Campaign.  Answering the call for public service, Eve felt right back at home surrounded by others with the passion to make the world a more compassionate place.  On the campaign trail, she championed Secretary Clinton and the Democratic ticket at rallies, community meetings, and church services.

In 2017, Eve joined the staff of newly-elected U.S. Senator Chris Van Hollen as a caseworker, fighting against the Trump Administration’s cowardly, racist policies, particularly, Presidential Proclamation 9645, aka the “Muslim travel ban”.  The Senator soon promoted Eve to become his Prince George’s County Regional Director, advising him on County legislation and policy; organizing community events; and managing the Senator’s relationships with County leaders and the community at-large. In this role, Eve got a first-class education on the needs of Prince Georgians and the issues facing her District 3 neighbors.  Paramount among her duties was responsive, effective constituent service.  Eve focused her outreach on people who simply want the government to work for them, collaborating with the County Council and the Maryland State delegation to resolve constituent issues and address local concerns.  Residents have commended her ability to meet their needs and connect them with State, County, and municipal services. Eve’s motto is “be helpful; be everywhere.”

Eve hopes to help continue building this wonderful, livable, inclusive community we live in and wants to serve you as your Prince George’s County District 3 Councilmember. #Eve4District3
